New York Giants in Baseball: The Original Team
The first and most historically significant team bearing the name "New York Giants" was a Major League Baseball (MLB) team established in 1883. This team was part of the National League and quickly became one of the most successful and popular franchises in baseball history.

In 1958, the baseball franchise relocated to San Francisco and became the San Francisco Giants. This move marked the end of the original New York Giants baseball team’s presence in New York City. The franchise's relocation was driven by a variety of factors, including stadium issues and market considerations.
However, the name "Giants" did not disappear from New York sports entirely. It was later adopted by a different team in a different sport, which continues to carry the legacy of the "Giants" name today.
The New York Giants Football Team
