Paris-Roubaix, often dubbed the "Hell of the North," is one of the most iconic and challenging one-day professional cycling races in the world. Known for its grueling cobbled sectors and unpredictable weather, it attracts cycling enthusiasts from around the globe. For many fans, knowing where to watch this legendary race is essential to fully enjoy the event. One common question that arises is whether the race is broadcast on SBS, a popular sports broadcaster known for its coverage of cycling and other sports. In this article, we will explore whether Paris-Roubaix is available on SBS and provide useful information for viewers eager to catch the action.
Is Paris Roubaix on Sbs
As of the latest information available up to October 2023, Paris-Roubaix is not typically broadcast live on SBS in Australia. SBS has a long-standing reputation for its comprehensive coverage of major cycling events, especially the Tour de France. However, the broadcasting rights for specific races like Paris-Roubaix can vary from year to year and are often held by different networks depending on the region and contractual agreements.
In Australia, SBS has historically been the primary broadcaster for the Tour de France, promoting cycling as a key part of their sports programming. For other major races such as Paris-Roubaix, the coverage may be available through different channels or streaming services, rather than SBS directly. Therefore, if you are in Australia and want to watch Paris-Roubaix live, it is important to check the current year's broadcasting schedule and rights agreements.
Where Can You Watch Paris-Roubaix?
If SBS does not carry Paris-Roubaix, there are several other options to consider for viewing the race:
- European Broadcasters: In Europe, the race is often broadcast on channels like Eurosport, which has extensive cycling coverage.
- Streaming Services: Platforms such as FloBikes, GCN+ (Global Cycling Network), and FuboTV frequently offer live coverage of major cycling races, including Paris-Roubaix.
- Official Race Website: The Paris-Roubaix official website sometimes provides live updates, highlights, and streaming options or links to broadcasters.
- Local Sports Networks: In some regions, local broadcasters may have rights, so checking local listings is recommended.
For Australian viewers, subscribing to international streaming services like GCN+ or FloBikes can be a reliable way to watch Paris-Roubaix live. These platforms often require a subscription but offer high-quality streams and comprehensive coverage of cycling events worldwide.
Is SBS Covering Other Major Cycling Events?
While SBS may not broadcast Paris-Roubaix specifically, it remains a key broadcaster for other significant cycling races, particularly the Tour de France. SBS's cycling coverage includes:
- Tour de France: Extensive live coverage, daily updates, and expert commentary.
- UCI World Championships: Coverage of world championship races in various disciplines.
- Other One-Day Classics: Occasionally, SBS may broadcast races like Liège-Bastogne-Liège or La Flèche Wallonne.
SBS's dedication to cycling has made it a go-to channel for Australian fans wanting to follow the sport closely. However, for the specific event of Paris-Roubaix, viewers often need to turn to dedicated cycling streaming services or international broadcasters.
How to Access Cycling Content on SBS
If you are interested in cycling content on SBS, here are some tips:
- SBS On Demand: The streaming platform offers on-demand access to a variety of sports, including cycling events covered in previous broadcasts. While live coverage of Paris-Roubaix may not be available, highlights and replays of related races can be found here.
- Check Live Schedule: Visit the SBS website or app to view their current sports broadcasting schedule and see if any upcoming cycling events are scheduled.
- Follow SBS Cycling Social Media: For updates on coverage, live streaming options, and race highlights, following their social media channels can be helpful.

Summary of the Key Points
To summarize, as of October 2023, Paris-Roubaix is generally not broadcast live on SBS in Australia. Fans eager to watch this iconic race should consider alternative options such as international streaming services like FloBikes or GCN+, which routinely offer live coverage of major cycling events. SBS remains a significant broadcaster for other major races, especially the Tour de France, but for Paris-Roubaix, dedicated cycling streaming platforms are often the best choice. Staying updated with official race websites and broadcasters' schedules is the best way to ensure you don't miss this historic race. Whether you're a seasoned cycling enthusiast or a new fan, accessing the right channels will enhance your viewing experience of the "Hell of the North."
